Art in Mini

We decided to have some fun with the mini canvas sold at Opus. These are tiny, and surprisingly hard to paint on since the surface is so small. We had fun with it, though. The challenge was to create a scene using these little things.

First up, Fai Kam , and he is all for the (hot)  pink tank .

001

Preparation, and a chance to look at his somewhat organized working space.

002

See how tiny these are? That is The Captain.

003

And his pissed off soldiers.

The pink tank is made by soft wire, canvas paper and bubble tea straws.

To our surprise, Fai is actually pretty good at crafts.

Here is a full-on shot. Background and base are painted on 6"x8" canvas.

The Last Day
Apr.2808

Capilano College (University now) IDEA Grad Show is one of the must-attend events for the industry crew. We were there this year! Well, we had to be, since it's one of our member's night.

0001

The place was filled with people that night. Each person would get a bag of goodies which included a catalog, IDEA Info booklet, drink ticket and a 2008 IDEA Calendar.

0002

Every graduate has a personal booth to show off their work. Here is Andrea Armstrong's space.

Sarajean's portfolio. On the left it's her self-portrait, which looks nothing like her. On the right it's a portrait of Avril Lavigne, whom she isn't particularly fond of.

0005

Here's Sarajean's booth, she said large prints of her work scare her.

0006

And that's her. She's all smile but her feet and sore throat are secretly killing her.

Overall it was a good show. You got to collect their business cards, self-promos or whatever they had to offer on the table, it's kind of fun. Who doesn't like free stuff?
